Leaf Guard Gutters

One of the most frustrating aspects of home maintenance is cleaning out old gutters. Leaves, twigs, bits of shingle, and other debris pile up at your gutters' drop chutes and clog them; rendering them all but useless. The best way to avoid having to muck through rotting leaves every spring and fall is to install leaf guard gutters.

What are leaf guard gutters? There are a few different ways to implement the guards, but one of the most successful is a simple overhang. The overhang runs flush against the edge of your eave and covers all but a quarter inch or so of the gutter’s trough. The edge of the overhang is angled so that water curves around back and falls down into the gutter. The tiny opening that the water falls through is small enough to keep out squirrels, leaves, and anything else that typically clogs up your gutters.

Because leave guard gutters are so simple in concept, they are actually priced very competitively when compared to a standard box gutter. If you paid yourself for the hours you spent cleaning gutters every year, you would come out ahead by installing leaf guards after just one year in most cases! To avoid not only the hassle, but the danger of clambering around on the edge of your roof, this investment is well worth it.
